The new changes in CUET 2025 have come to provide an even more streamlined experience for undergraduate admissions. Here’s what the major changes are and their impact.

Changes in CUET 2025

1. CUET 2025 Exam Mode to Go Fully Online

From 2025, all CUET exams will occur entirely in Computer-Based Tests (CBT). The earlier exams were also conducted in a hybrid nature. This way, uniformity is created when it comes to the examinations for all the students.

2. Examination Duration Standardised at 60 Minutes

The UGC has streamlined the time for all the tests. Now, all these tests will be held for 60 minutes instead of 45 and 60 minutes for any subject.

3. Number of Subjects to be Chosen to be Reduced

Now only five subjects can be chosen whereas previously, students could choose among a much larger number of subjects, which made this examination process complex.

4. 37 Subjects on Offer

Number of subjects for CUET is now 37 as against the 63 subjects which were there earlier. There Is a GAT for the candidates if their subjects cannot be availed of. It is a simplification move since it will simplify the exam structure and logistics.

5. Subject Flexibility

Students can now choose subjects that they have not studied in Class 12. This gives more flexibility and removes the restriction of disciplines. It helps students to choose various fields for further studies.

6. All Questions Are Compulsory

Optional questions have been removed from CUET 2025. The exam is going to be in such a way that as a candidate you will now have to answer all questions. This will make sure that uniformity and fairness across subjects are set up.

Why Were These Changes Introduced?

A committee of experts analyzed the structure, syllabus, and operational issues of CUET. The UGC put these reforms into effect after recommendations by this committee. The major objectives are to reduce complexity, make the process efficient, and make the exams smoother.

Impact on Students

  • Reduced complexity: With fewer subjects, and uniform exam time, complexity in preparation will reduce.
  • More flexibility: Students are allowed to opt for disciplines outside Class 12.
  • Efficient Process: Online mode facilitates quick and consistent conduction of exams.
  • No Confusion: Since all questions are compulsory, the candidates will not have any guesswork and can concentrate on answering.

Why Switch to CBT Mode?

It will be a strategic decision to conduct the test completely online. As this is through CBT, transportation costs of the question papers will be diminished along with setting up physical test centers. Errors are at their lowest level with quick result processing.

CUET 2025 Exam Preparation: What Students Need to Do?

  • Understand the New Pattern: Students need to concentrate on the new guidelines.
  • Take Mock Tests: Practice using online mock tests to get familiar with the CBT mode.
  • Plan for GAT: Prep for General Aptitude Test, going to high through admission
  • Time Management: All of them are compulsory questions, so the challenge becomes all the more to manage time

Last words

The changes that CUET 2025 will bring in make the test more student-friendly and time-efficient. UGC, in its efforts, has standardized the exam duration and taken away the logistical complexities of reduced subjects and fully online exams. Students have to shift to the new structure with the right strategies of preparation.
